What You Should Know About Personal Goal Setting

Many people ask, "Does personal goal setting really work?" Several people desire to have things, accomplishments or situations and then refer to them as goals, and then when they don't receive them, they are disappointed. You may call your desires, your goals if you want, however just naming all of your desires definitely isn't going to be as effective as goal setting.

Respectable goals have some, if not all of the following things:

1) Respectable goals are specific. Just stating that you want to be healthy is too general. Saying that you want to lose some weight and walk at least three times a week, is much better.

2) Respectable goals are measurable. Exactly how many pounds would you like to lose? Exactly how much money do you want to make? How are you going to know if your relationship is better?

3) Respectable goals are in writing. Whether you realize it or not, there is some power within writing down your goals. When you write your goals down it makes them seem more real, and in turn influences the subconscious mind you have, in the event that you review the goal regularly.

4) Respectable goals are realistic. When you have unrealistic goals, it sets you up for failure.

5) Respectable goals have deadlines. When you set dates, it helps the progress you make.

6) Respectable goals become plans. When you create a goal and break it down into specific steps, it makes it a lot more likely. When you take one step at a time, it isn't that overwhelming.

7) Respectable goals are motivated. When you have a goal for all of the right reasons, which is a good start.

8) Respectable goals considered all of the personal factors. If you have children, you are going to want a job where you have to make your children travel all around the world.

9) Respectable goals are followed by some action. When you set goals, you do your best to focus on them and eliminate them as you achieve them.

10) Respectable goals aren't written in stone. Goals will evolve naturally. You aren't going to want to be a nurse after you found you liked teaching better.

If you want to truly be successful in life, you are going to have to lay down some basic goal setting objectives. All you have to do is think about all of the things you would like to accomplish in your lifetime, even though these things may seem a little far fetched, if you are still young, you have your whole life ahead of you, there's no way of knowing what will happen.

You can achieve anything that you set your mind to.
